| What a great weekend it turned out to be ... I had my doubts while I was looking out the window on Thursday afternoon ... watching it snow! Once again, I got stuck in Maggie Valley with Patricia ... dern ;o) ... I arrived at the campground just in time to catch Patti putting the final touches 'our' campsite. :o) Thanks, Patti. Saturday morning, Patti, Ed & I packed a lunch and headed out to hike up to the top of Stone Mountain. The trail was marked "strenuous" and there were warning sign along the way! We managed to make the 4.5 miles in just under 5 hours! Of course we stopped at the top for lunch and to take a few pictures ... We also spent some time at a beautiful waterfall ... looking for Patti's sun-glasses ... but that's a whole other story. (that will be included in Ed's song about our weekend) Saturday night there was an astrology club set up in the park ... there were about 5 or 6 big telescopes looking into the night sky. What a treat! ... As Janice said ... It was "Far Out!" Of course we were humming and singing "Spirit" while we were walking around looking at the stars and planets! We even watched the space station go over. We all voted to come back here in August for the Perseids Meteor showers. As usual, Ed & I managed to out last everyone and stayed up untill almost 2am ... playing and singing John's songs around the campfire. :o) After breakfast Sunday morning, we had our first 'unofficial' Windstar meeting. We decided to call our conection group ... Foxfire Conections. ... Please contact Patti if you want to join us ... I headed home around 2pm ... Listened to John's Wildlife Concert all the way. What a "Far Out" Weekend! |
