I was lonely and longing for contact,
But nowhere much hope could I see,
Til one day, last Summer, I happened to find
   This group - N.C.Friends of J.D.

I wrote and requested to join them,
And they must have thought it quite strange,
That someone, from north of the border,
Sought contact well out of her range.

But, they made me a part of their network,
And I learned this, before very long,
That now, "Though the singer is silent,
There still is the truth of the song."

He left with his life's work unfinished.
There is so much more, yet, to be done,
And we can accomplish his vision
If we all work together as one -

To rescue a creature, broken or lost,
Plant a tree for the greening of Earth,
Seek to make peace with each other,
And pass on the hope of rebirth.

So, if you, now, are reading this message,
And if for John Denver, you care,
Please, take a moment and join with these folks,
The best friends you will find anywhere.

Now I am no longer "lost and alone,
On some forgotten highway", going nowhere.
I am part of this circle, growing, unbroken,
With hands clasped as comrades,
the whole world to share.
