The Dream Time
by Cynthia Gullage ~ 01-12-02
I walked in a meadow of wild columbines,
And sat by a clear, crystal stream.
There, I heard again, his beautiful voice,
And I knew I had entered a Dream.

He sang of the things he believed in,
ONE WORLD, where all nations are free,
Where dolphins cavort in the ocean,
And manatees play in the sea.

He told me of cathedral mountains,
Where eagles soar into the sky.
He spoke of his need to make words melodies,
And his passion for life made me cry.

He strummed a few chords of "BACK HOME AGAIN"
And requested that I sing along.
And, I'm sure that he knew he had granted a wish,
When he asked me to join him in song.

He still hopes that our Earth can grow greener,
That people will yet live in Peace.
And he prays we will always endeavor
to step in and make battles cease.

He declared, "You must look to tomorrow,
To the promise that comes with the dawn."
Then I closed my eyes for a moment,
And when I looked up, he was gone.

A lone eagle took flight from the branches
of a fragrant blue pine, upward bound.
Seeking the dream~time of those such as I,
Everyday, reaching for higher ground.
