Alaska & Me Cruise Aug 31 - Sept 7 Jim & Anne Curry present a "John Denver Tribute Show" on Holland America Ships about 40 weeks out of each year. They have put together a special Group Cruise with a Travel Agent to have friends join them on one or more weeks in Alaska. They perform many of John's Alaska Songs in their concert for the entire ship as well as Sing-a-longs every other night ... exclusively for the group. They also organize hikes in some of the ports as well. Special guests will include former band members and tour managers of John's . For More Information ... Click Here! | Staying Centered with Tom Crum ... The Strawberry There is an ancient story of a sarurai who is being chased by a bear. He literally runs off a cliff. As he's falling, he grabs a branch. He looks up and sees the bear leaning over the cliff, clawing at his head, missing only by inches. As he looks down to the ground below, only about fifteen feet, he sees a lion leaping up, missing his feet only by inches. As he looks at the branch he is clutching, he sees two groundhogs gnawing away at it. He watches as his lifeline disappears, bite by bite. As he takes a long, deep breath, he notices, next to his branch, a clump of wild strawberries. In the midst of the clump is a great, red, juicy strawberry. With his one free hand, he reaches over, picks the strawberry, puts it in his mouth, chews it slowly and says, "Ah - delicious." |

| The concert will be at City Lake Park, just off NC 73 in Albemarle NC. The time is not yet set, but it will most likely be a late afternoon/early evening event. The concert is free! |
| This will be the dedication of the new outdoor amphitheater. The amphitheater
has lawn seating, so bring your lawn chairs or blankets and picnic baskets! Food vendors will be available for this event, and there's ample picnic shelters, paddle boats and fishing facilities! This will be a Tribute to John Denver ... and Friends, with Pete Huttlinger, Chris Nole and Mack Bailey (local boy comes home -- he's from Troy, NC, just across the river from here!). Expect lots of John Denver tunes and solo stuff from the guys! This is also the weekend of the Persides Meteor Showers! I am looking into camping at Morrow Mountain State Park, on Badin Lake. If you are interested in camping with us ... Please email me ... I can reserve a group campsite ... if enough folks are interested! If you don't camp, come spend the day ... bring a picnic lunch and we can enjoy a day in the park getting to know other "Friends of JD" ... topped off with an evening of John's music ... out under the stars ... on the night of the Persides Meteor Showers! I can't think of a better way to spend a weekend! (more details to come ...) |
