From Laura:
I'm always alert for Denver Delights ... Just last week as I was leaving one of the nursing facilities I visit ... I realized I recognized the music coming from one of the rooms I had
just walked past.  Of course, I made an about face and stayed around to finish listening to
"Take Me Home, Country Roads" on a local radio station!
What a thrill it is to hear
John on the radio again ... or should I say still!

From Jenny:
Last weekend I went to the
Renaissance Festival in Concord, NC.  Its gotten to be a
yearly thing with us.  Its a great family outing and the kids and I always enjoy it.
But this year I got a little added treat. While my boyfriend, Tim, and I were standing
in line to get a roasted turkey leg, there was a minstrel playing all kinds of funny tunes
to amuse the many people waiting.  All of a sudden, I noticed a very familiar tune and
Tim and I both turned to eachother at the same time and said,
"That's Country Roads."
Same tune, different lyrics, but it was Country Roads, none the less.
I didn't realize John's music reached back THAT far!
It just goes to show that John's music reaches out to all times and different kinds!

Far Out!!!!                      Peace, Jenny

As you all know ... Aspen in October was Fantastic ...
It was great to be with my
JD family again and meet some new friends ... playing high in the Rocky Mountains ... and enjoying John's music with folks who actually KNOW all the words!

I'm already looking forward to next year.

I've finished one page of "Aspen Memories" ... however,
there are several more pages to come.  So, keep an eye on
your mailboxs ... another page will be coming soon.
You can access the
"Aspen Memories" from the

Would you believe ... I've already received an invitation to our
"Office Christmas Party"
So, it's time again to start our "Christmas Card List"
Send me your mailing address in an email with ...

This months Centering Tip from Tom Crum ...

A Willingness to Listen
Last week I visited Mesa Verde, the home of the ancient Anasazi people.
The Anasazi, as you probably know, have been etched into history by their well preserved homes - pueblos, kivas, and towers - built right into the high cliffs in southwestern Colorado.

I had taken the tour of the cliff dwellings many years earlier and I had heard the park
service's standard presentation.  "The Anasazi lived peacefully in these cliffs for
eight hundred years," the guide and the literature insisted.  "But then, one day, they
suddenly disappeared." Drought?  Disease?  An enemy?  No one knew for sure,
and the mystery of it all made for a stimulating tour.

Well, now there is a new story.  The Anasazi didn't just "disappear" one day,
the guide told us.  They actively decided, over time, to leave their cliff dwellings because
"it was time."  They descended to lower elevations and peacefully mixed with the
other southwestern Colorado natives.  No mystery, no suspense,
just a natural lifestyle evolution.

This new story apparently developed when the park service began to acknowledge
the reports and evidence provided by the local native American citizens.
In a spirit of cooperation, the park service is seeking the greater truth.
They are giving up a need to be right. They are listening with new ears,
and coming off their positions.

I think this kind of open-mindedness is courageous, and it will inspire me to be less
tenacious when I am defending what I think is right.
