| Denver Delights ... From time to time, little things happen that remind you of John. They always make you smile ... I like to call them 'Denver Delights' ================================================================= Thanks for sending me your 'Denver Delights' ... Keep them coming and look for them in future newsletters ... Laura ================================================================= From Maureen ... I was waiting at the cash register in the shoe store Saturday morning while a "Muzak" type of background music was playing, Beatles etc. when "Leaving on a Jet Plane" played. A young couple was also waiting to pay for shoes for their baby. The husband started singing the lyrics quietly to his wife and kissed her right there in the store. Way to to John! From Patti ... I was on my last leg of my trip back home from a wonderful week in Montana. Was anxious to get home but sad to leave the wild and wonderful west. I had taken my seat on the plane when a gentleman sat next to me and asked if this was 7A, I told him no that it was 8A but that I wouldn't bite if he chose to sit next to me. He struck up a conversation asking where I was going where I was coming from. When I told him I was coming from Montana, he bust out with "Wild Montana Skies" by John Denver. I laughed and said "Amen Brother." So of course we started talking about John and how much we loved his music and missed him. To show what a fan he was he boasted of his JD 8 track tapes and player. I was impressed, shows he is a long time fan. He's got a lot to learn about John but he has the heart and that's what counts. So welcome James to our family! |

| New Denver Info ... From Debora ...A full page color photo and one page article appears on Pages 52, 53 in the Jan. 3, 2005 issue of Country Weekly magazine celebrating John's 35th anniversary of his solo debut. The article discusses John's rocky road to stardom in Nashville and despite resentment from "some" fellow country artists how he went on to have massive success. Several of today's country artists site John as a great influence in their lives and the fact that he had 14 Top 40 country hits over a span of 14 years. Milt Okun has several quotes and for the most part it proves to be a positive article although there is mention of the unforgettable Charlie Pride announcement of 1975. It's worth a read and definitely worth the color photo for any collector of John's material. |
